Custom Fitting Single Length Irons

All human beings share the same skeletal, muscle, tendon, and joint functions and from a mechanical standpoint are the same regardless of height or sex. Non-mechanical differences arise in custom fitting however, for instance: the height of a bicycle seat needs to be greater for a taller person than a shorter person even though the mechanical design of the bicycle remains the same. By the same token, there is only one true fitting variable in the building of golf clubs and that is club length. Based on your wrist-to-floor measurement, we adjust your club length to correspond to our clubheads' lie angle to ensure a proper fitting.

Wrist-to-Floor MeasurementTaking your Wrist-to-Floor Measurement:
  • The wrist-to-floor measurement should be taken while standing on a hard surface.
  • Wear jogging/gym shoes (not golf shoes) not in excess of 1.5" sole.
  • Stand with your back against the wall at strict military attention. Place your shoulders and head against the wall, your feet together, and your arms rigid and straight down at your sides.
  • Hold a pencil in your right hand (right handed golfer). Back your arms against the wall and then take the pencil and make a mark where your left wrist joint hits the wall. Just the opposite for a left-handed golfer.
  • Measure from this mark to the floor.
  • Important: Do not round-up the measurement to the next higher inch increment. For instance, if your measurement is 34 and 7/8β€³, do not round up to 35β€³.

One Iron Golf Club Lengths

One Iron Golf Club Lengths - Wrist to Floor Measurements

NOVA and GRIA Hybrid Club Lengths

How to correctly measureΒ your clubs:

Club length is properly measured by placing the golf club in the address position with the scoring lines on the club face parallel to the ground and then measuring directly alongside the shaft from the butt end of the grip to the point where the shaft would intersect the ground if it extended through the heel of the club head.

Very Important:

Do not order based upon what you consider to be your favorite iron (ie: #7 iron), and do not use that corresponding wrist-to-floor measurement when placing your order. When ordering you need to specify your actual wrist-to-floor measurement to ensure a proper fitting. This chart reflects club length based upon our club-head lie angles. Consequently, our fitting process does not apply to any other brand.

For the taller golfer:Β  based upon your wrist-to-floor measurement you may be concerned that your irons would be a typical #3 or #4 iron club length;Β however, do not compare your measurement to your current #3 or #4 iron. The lie angles of your β€œlong” irons are much flatter than ours which, at your size, requires you to bend over excessively and reach out for the ball at address.Β The club head lie angle of our irons is 63.5ΒΊ which is far more upright and allows you, for the first time, to stand upright and much closer to the ball at address resulting in the ideal upright swing posture and swing plane. The taller golfer benefits the most from our fitting formula since they have never played golf clubs that have even come close to fitting them properly.Β The result being that they have had to develop a very inefficient posture and swing where they are bent over excessively and reaching way out for the ball with every iron in the bag.

How Does the Wrist-to-Floor Measurement Work?

It is based upon trigonometry. At the point of ball impact in the downswing, your wrist, the ground, and the clubhead, form a right triangle. Assuming an ideal swing posture, there is a non-linear mathematical relationship between your wrist-to-floor measurement while standing at attention and your wrist-to-ground distance at ball impact.

The clubhead lie angles are known for the irons and fairway woods as well as the length of one side of the right triangle based upon your mathematically factored wrist-to-ground distance at impact. This gives us the measurement of two angles and the length of one side. We then use trigonometry to solve for the hypotenuse or club length. This is somewhat oversimplified as we factor in shaft deflection and numerous other factors. The fitting formula that we developed produces the ideal golf club length for anyone regardless of height or arm length.

Not what I expected

As much as I would love to give a positive review about 1irongolf clubs I can’t. When the clubs arrived a was very excited to try them out I have a golf simulator system at home and I went to the driving range. I also warm up with my 9 iron and I pulled out the 1iron 9 and just to check compared it to my Ping G400 9 iron and they were the same size so I am thinking cool. But after warming up I noticed I was only hitting the ball about 100 yards with the 1 iron when I can carry my Ping 130 so I started my normal practice of working through the clubs and every clubs was 10 to 20 yards shorter. I did this for a week and just give up on them. Now they are a 1200 dollar closets ornament. I wish I could say something positive them but can’t

single length club honest review

I have golfed for 30 years on and off but really just started consistently getting out 1 time a week about 3 years ago. I’m 52 and sometimes scored ok.

2 years ago I bough the full set of Blackstine irons. I struggled with the 3, 4 and 5 irons but hit everything else good.

But by the end of last summer I had gone back to my old set. My iron swing speed is slow…75mph ish. Over the winter purchased the 5,7,9 woods and hit them once a week and committed this spring to give them the single length clubs an honest effort.

This summer I have played the most consistent golf of my life. The thing about the irons is they go VERY consistent distances and the same swing with 6-LW has made the game so much easier.

With the 7,9 woods specifically I am hitting greens from 160-185 yards regularly.

I had to honestly get used to just swinging smoother and stop trying to compensate and try to muscle my irons.

I couldn’t be happier and will never go back to my old variable length irons.

My advice to anyone is buy them, and commit to them. In reality took about 5-6 times out to get used to them…but since I only play once a week I was a little impatient.

Woods & Irons

While it took a little adjustment in my stance, I absolutely LOVE the Gria Irons (3 - PW) and the Low Profile Fairway 3 Wood. I have never hit a golf ball so straight! I have just ordered the Low Profile 5 Wood to round out my arsenal. Additionally, you will never experience better customer service than what Ron Davis and David Lake provide. This is a 5 star company!

1Iron Golf Equipment

About 15years I kept looking at the website, I was very intrigued I knew it made sense . 2 years ago I finally pulled the trigger and bought two sets of irons, fairway woods and Driver. I’m very pleased. I also purchased the putter which is very good. It’s very similar to my Odyssey 2ball in my opinion.
The irons are very easy to hit, and I find that since the fairway woods are customized my size, they work better than hybrids. I just recently purchased their nine Fairway Wood. But I gotta tell you, even the three and four irons are easy to hit , it is the same size as my seven, pitching wedge, etc..
Dechambeau made one size clubs famous and so many big brands are copying that, but David Lake had the right idea decades ago! Kudos to you, David Lake.

Thanks David for the 9 wood addition. It's wonderful.

I have always felt that the One Irons needed a club to breach the gap between the woods and the irons. I knew that I could manage this by adding a 5 hybrid from a previous set. But, I wanted to stay true to the 1 Iron philosophy. The new 9 wood is the perfect in-brand solution. It's like my old hybrid only better.
A 25 degree wood has a lot of versatility. Again, it fills the gap between my iron distance and the distance of a 7 wood. But it does so much more than that. I have used a 25 to get out of the tall grass. I have used a 25 to sail out of a fairway bunker. I used it to get out from under trees and on occasion chipping onto the green.
The best part of the new 9 wood is that is exactly like every other fairway wood in my bag with the exception of the loft. There's no learning curve. It's like swinging any other wood. The ball gets up and goes just like it is supposed to. For me, it's a Wonder Wood.

I had the 3 and 5 wood and liked them so much I decided to add the 7 into the bag. Now I may need the 9 wood!

Love my 3 wood!

I already had your 5 and 7 woods along with your iron set. I wanted a lower let ft angle but the same club length as my 5 and 7 woods. It’s perfect. It gives me another 20 yards without spraying it like I do with a driver.

B
Benjamin T. (Providence, US)
Buy these woods and play the long game better.

I play the 3,5,& 7 woods. They perfectly complement the Pro Line Irons and Dark Horse Driver.
The single length of these woods creates a confidence that I never felt with my old 3 wood, hybrid, and 4 iron I used for long approach shots. I simply choose a loft based on the distance, pick the club, use the same set up and swing for each club, and then take the long walk to my ball.
The ball flight is piercing and rises to a high apex. Which is just awesome to watch. The woods, like the irons and driver, are very workable if you like to shape shots.
I play One Iron Golf clubs from Driver to Lob wedge and all the clubs have performed better than I expected.
I am definitely a single length One Iron Golf convert and love these clubs.

Swing smooth

With all woods having the same shaft length, it makes it very easy to repeat the swing and get a solid consistent ball flight.

Nice looking club

Been cold and nasty here in Michigan and the courses are closed. Leaving for Florida in a week and will be trying it out then. I will say I bought a set of the black stone irons that came with a 5 wood and 7 wood. The 5 wood is very forgiving and I like it very much. That is my reason for ordering the 3 wood. Have not really used the 7 wood. Sorry but that’s about all I can tell you at this point.

Michael P. (Flemington, US)
Outstanding

I've been dealing with 1-Iron golf for nearly 15 years. At first, I bought a set of clubs from eBay and then started dealing with the company directly a few years later. They are the most customer-friendly company in golf. The fact that you can try a club and return it for a full refund with no obligation is unmatched in the golf industry. I just bought a new set of wedges and plan on replacing my year-old set of irons next Spring. David Lake has the most no-nonsense, no-hype approach to golf. His company has been an absolute pleasure, and I hope they continue to succeed.

New 7-wood everything I hoped for

I added this club to my existing One Iron set for situations where I was looking for faster ball elevation while still maintaining reasonable distance. The new club has delivered for me. As usual, build quality, fit, and finish are excellent. This club is an excellent addition for my limited club carry bag - which is exactly what I was hoping for.

Great Upgrade!

I purchased my set of One Iron clubs back in 2010 and have been happy with them ever since. This summer, I bent my 7 wood and ordered a replacement low-profile version. This club works even better for me and I will be upgrading the remaining woods soon.

Fairway woods

Excellent as expected.
The 3 wood and 5 wood have been an excellent addition. I actually still use the previous ONE IRON GOLF 12 degree steel shafted driver. I now have a β€˜full’ wood set that gives me more confidence on the tee and/or fairway.

B
Bradley B. (Sturgeon Bay, US)
Finally ordered a 3 wood

I have had the 5 and 7 fairway woods along with 5 iron-Lob wedge for 5 months now, and hit them all better than my old traditional clubs. Initially my distances seemed less, but now that the ambient temperatures are 30 degrees higher my distances are back to normal range. Initially I did not purchase a 3 wood after reading articles that say amateurs shouldn't carry a 3 wood. I'm so glad I finally bought the 3 wood, as it is easy to hit and I get more distance than the 5 wood, with good accuracy. Now I can get close to the par 5 greens in 2 shots with regularity. For years I have been intrigued by the concept of consistent club length and lie angle, and now wish I would have tried these clubs many years ago.

New 3 wood

All three One Iron woods are in my bag and they are great. My golf partner says I should leave the driver at home! But now I wonder about their driver, anyone have a nice One Iron driver they want to sell?
