NOVA Hybrid Irons are designed for the golfer who prefers to sweep the ball from the turf as opposed to hitting down and through and taking a divot. In 2011, David Lake designed our NOVA Hybrid Irons which were the industry's first true line of hybrid irons that combine the playability of a hybrid wood with the inherent accuracy of an iron. Since then, a few brands have copied our design but have fallen far short of the playability and forgiveness of our NOVA Hybrid Irons. As well, the combination of our NOVA Hybrid Irons and single-length play make them vastly superior in performance to any brand of hybrid irons on the market today.

NOVA Single Length Hybrid Irons feature the flat club face of an iron, combined with the wide sole of a hybrid wood to produce the low center of gravity and smooth turf glide of a hybrid wood. They are designed for single-length play: same length, weight, lie angle, bounce angle, and sole width throughout the set, and are completely swing-weight and MOI matched. This allows you to use the exact same set-up, swing, and ball position with every iron in your set for the ultimate in ball striking consistency.

Although hybrid woods are typically the easiest-to-play clubs in a player's bag, they incorporate the single flaw of all wood-type clubs: bulge and roll built into the club face. For those not familiar with these terms, they relate to the curvature of the club face from toe to heel and sole to top line. The presence of bulge and roll on a club face makes it impossible to attain any level of distance or accuracy control that you would normally associate with iron play. With a hybrid wood, you aim for the width and depth of a green, whereas with an iron, you aim at the pin.

The big distinction is that NOVA Single-Length Hybrid Irons are just that – irons, which means you not only enjoy the playability and added distance of a hybrid wood but also the precise distance control and unparalleled accuracy of an iron. They are without a doubt the easiest to play, most consistent, and most accurate hybrids on the market today.

NOVA Single-Length Hybrid Irons are custom-built to your ideal club length based upon your wrist-to-floor measurement. They are identical throughout the set except for the clubface loft angle. It is like playing an entire round of golf with only a single iron.

NOVA Single-Length Hybrid Irons are the only custom-fitted hybrid irons in the golf industry designed specifically for single-length play and whose specifications include:

  • Identical club length throughout the set.
  • Identical clubhead lie angle throughout the set.
  • Identical swing-weight and moment of inertia (MOI) throughout the set.
  • Identical shaft flex and flex plane alignment throughout the set.
  • Custom fit - all NOVA Hybrid Irons are custom fitted to the individual golfer.

SHAFTS & GRIPS:

  • NOVA Single-Length Hybrids are shafted with a specialized frequency-balanced, 100% graphite shaft specifically designed to accommodate all swing speeds. The result is a lightweight hybrid iron and wood, custom-fitted for club length, that promotes higher swing speeds and more forgiveness.
  • Identical club length throughout the set.
  • Identical clubhead lie angle, swing weight and (MOI), and shaft flex throughout the set.
  • Shaft flex plane orientation (Spine Align/Puring).
  • All Irons and Woods are installed with 1/8" oversized Jumbo+ grips for superior control and transfer of swing force.

GRIA Hybrid Woods:

  • Built to a 40" club length with a highly cambered sole that is designed to fit any size golfer.

Custom Fitting Single Length Irons

All human beings share the same skeletal, muscle, tendon, and joint functions and from a mechanical standpoint are the same regardless of height or sex. Non-mechanical differences arise in custom fitting however, for instance: the height of a bicycle seat needs to be greater for a taller person than a shorter person even though the mechanical design of the bicycle remains the same. By the same token, there is only one true fitting variable in the building of golf clubs and that is club length. Based on your wrist-to-floor measurement, we adjust your club length to correspond to our clubheads' lie angle to ensure a proper fitting.

Wrist-to-Floor MeasurementTaking your Wrist-to-Floor Measurement:
  • The wrist-to-floor measurement should be taken while standing on a hard surface.
  • Wear jogging/gym shoes (not golf shoes) not in excess of 1.5" sole.
  • Stand with your back against the wall at strict military attention. Place your shoulders and head against the wall, your feet together, and your arms rigid and straight down at your sides.
  • Hold a pencil in your right hand (right handed golfer). Back your arms against the wall and then take the pencil and make a mark where your left wrist joint hits the wall. Just the opposite for a left-handed golfer.
  • Measure from this mark to the floor.
  • Important: Do not round-up the measurement to the next higher inch increment. For instance, if your measurement is 34 and 7/8″, do not round up to 35″.

One Iron Golf Club Lengths

One Iron Golf Club Lengths - Wrist to Floor Measurements

NOVA and GRIA Hybrid Club Lengths

How to correctly measure your clubs:

Club length is properly measured by placing the golf club in the address position with the scoring lines on the club face parallel to the ground and then measuring directly alongside the shaft from the butt end of the grip to the point where the shaft would intersect the ground if it extended through the heel of the club head.

Very Important:

Do not order based upon what you consider to be your favorite iron (ie: #7 iron), and do not use that corresponding wrist-to-floor measurement when placing your order. When ordering you need to specify your actual wrist-to-floor measurement to ensure a proper fitting. This chart reflects club length based upon our club-head lie angles. Consequently, our fitting process does not apply to any other brand.

For the taller golfer:  based upon your wrist-to-floor measurement you may be concerned that your irons would be a typical #3 or #4 iron club length; however, do not compare your measurement to your current #3 or #4 iron. The lie angles of your “long” irons are much flatter than ours which, at your size, requires you to bend over excessively and reach out for the ball at address. The club head lie angle of our irons is 63.5º which is far more upright and allows you, for the first time, to stand upright and much closer to the ball at address resulting in the ideal upright swing posture and swing plane. The taller golfer benefits the most from our fitting formula since they have never played golf clubs that have even come close to fitting them properly. The result being that they have had to develop a very inefficient posture and swing where they are bent over excessively and reaching way out for the ball with every iron in the bag.

How Does the Wrist-to-Floor Measurement Work?

It is based upon trigonometry. At the point of ball impact in the downswing, your wrist, the ground, and the clubhead, form a right triangle. Assuming an ideal swing posture, there is a non-linear mathematical relationship between your wrist-to-floor measurement while standing at attention and your wrist-to-ground distance at ball impact.

The clubhead lie angles are known for the irons and fairway woods as well as the length of one side of the right triangle based upon your mathematically factored wrist-to-ground distance at impact. This gives us the measurement of two angles and the length of one side. We then use trigonometry to solve for the hypotenuse or club length. This is somewhat oversimplified as we factor in shaft deflection and numerous other factors. The fitting formula that we developed produces the ideal golf club length for anyone regardless of height or arm length.

High handicap golfers

My wife and I are high handicap golfers that are spending more time playing golf and trying to enjoy golf more with improved shot making.
Our iron play after a week of daily play shows that we have less shot dispersion. We are also seeing better results with achieving appropriate loft and shots holding the greens vs running off the back

I love them

I love them. They’re very easy to hit and they launch quickly. my previous one length clubs from a major manufacturer, were too strongly lofted, and I had so much trouble getting the ball up in the air. I get a much more consistent, strike with the one irons than my old clubs.

I have only used the Nova hybrid irons twithe

I have only used the Nova hybrid irons twice at the range. So far, the feel and performance are amazing! I will be using them next week in Bandon. Can't wait!

I already had a set of single length irons

I already had a set of single length irons, so I knew what I was getting into. First thing I noticed was when I did the home measurements I would up with clubs a couple inches longer than my other set. Makes a big difference. These clubs swing so nice and the contact is solid. I am very pleased with this set. Now if they could do something about my putting....

They do fly high

The irons fly high and glide through the turf. I am about 1 club shorter in distance but that is an acceptable trade off for ease of achieving a good strike. Wish there were gap wedge and sand wedge options available.

I like how I am able to get the ball in air especially the 3, 4 and 5 irons. Still getting use to them but feel very comfortable with them.

Game on

My nova hybrid irons are just what I needed. I'm a terminal cancer guy ending a year of chemo, beginning two years I hope of imuno therapy. My body is weak, neuropathy in my feet etc. I've been under par, I've pared, I have 8 hole in ones and I love golf. My nova hybrid irons allow me to imagine a come back. Perfect head weight and balance. I put my own sets together at 40" so I'm use to the even length. Awesome irons for me. Check um out if you need them. Enjoy your journey.

Short trial period

We live on golf course that is located in both Maine and New Hampshire. We both bought the hybrid woods and irons because of the great discount price. Unfortunately, we were only able to spend about 30 minutes on the fairway behind our house as the course was closed. The short test had was positive. We currently have about a foot of snow on the ground and will probably not see grass until March or April, but we will update our review then. Steve Toomey

New clubs

First few games with my one iron clubs. Best feature so far is I am hitting the ball straight. Length has fallen off a bit but that's OK as I get into less trouble. I am 82 yes old and I think that the fall off in distance relates to a slower swing speed. Overall I am a happier golfer

Instant success

They feel good and go really well. Love the larger grips which are easier on my arthritic fingers. I have won my club competition for three weeks running.

Nova Hybrids

These Hybrids are lighter than my Cobras, feel more comfortable on the takeaway and the follow through. Ball striking is right on the money and I’m sold on them, the fit is just right for me. I highly recommend them!

What a difference!

The clubs from Gria are a major change in my golf gear. The same length and weight just seems right. I’m not kidding when I say that these clubs are allowing me to play a straighter game. But the biggest difference with these clubs is the interest they have rekindled in my game.

Getting Used to Them

Still getting to know my full set, the first round I played with them , was in a tournament 2 man scramble with my 20 hc. Son in law and we won by 3 strokes with a 69. 🤠😎👊🏼💪🏼

Takes time

My first couple rounds I was leary of my new clubs. I played conventional hybrids for 10 years, and was used to hitting them short on the greens and letting them roll. At first when they checked up like conventional irons, I needed to adjust. Now after six rounds, I am beginning to love the new field and the same length shafts. I have adjusted most quickly to the wedge and nine irons. I have found them to be my favorites. But I have no doubt the others, after more practice will come to play like the others. At first, I was a little scared that by buying the demos, and not being able to return them, was a mistake. But now I feel the gamble was worth the money saved as they become my friends on the course.

Best hybrid set

Just played my first round with these clubs. After a few holes to find the best ball position I was hitting shots I haven't made in years. No problem adjusting to all clubs being the same lenght

Nice clubs

Their nice clubs I’ve played 2 rounds with them trying to get use to the sweeping style of swing I’ve been a drive down on the ball for years but when I hit it good and flush it’s doing what I want it to nice high flight with a soft landing. Looking forward to my next round

5 and 7 Irons

Still getting used to the new 5 and 7 iron, but I'm already seeing improvements in my game. With the new clubs, my shots have good loft, are more straight on target, and have more distance. Still have a few chunks here and there, but just need more swings to dial things in. Money well spent so far.

Great Clubs

I got these clubs yesterday and went to the range with them today . They hit awesome ! I can’t wait to get my distances down so I can play my first round with them ! Great Clubs !!

R

High flight sits soft.

I lost five yards with every club because ball flight is so much higher and they stick even on hard greens. Only purchased up to 5 iron probably have to order 4 iron to off sit the loss in distance. Great clubs.

Awesome!

I bought a set of irons and loved em, so ordered the 3 and 5 woods and the 54 degree wedge to make a full set. They are all so forgiving and fly high after jumping off the head. My back doesn’t hurt so much because I don’t have to swing so hard! Best purchase I’ve made in a long time!!👍

Nova hybrid irons

Received my irons and couldn't wait to try them out. I have used the irons everyday since I got them. I've been going to the driving range or golf course every day. At the end of the first week, I was completely disappointed. I thought to myself I've been had again. After using the clubs everyday for a week, I thought to myself, something is wrong and I knew it had to be me. I made some changes in ball positioning and swing then it was like someone else was hitting my ball for me. They are unbelievably straight and I have picked up at the least 30 yards. In my opinion they are a great set of clubs at a fair price and backed up by great people. I am completely satisfied and may order a few more clubs.

New clubs

I had trouble first time out, but I never went to practice range first like suggested! Once I got the feel of the clubs I started to improve. Not getting the full distance with the lower number clubs but I’m improving every time out. I like the feel of the clubs and continue to improve. Overall I am very satisfied!!

Great clubs, very happy with purchase.

Due to a hip injury I switched from standard irons to single length hybrids. They worked fine with my limited swing for a few years. I tried the Nova hybrid irons at a local demo day and decided to try a set. I've played 6 rounds with these and they have exceeded my expectations. I have better distance and location control. Clubs were shipped as promised and arrived a few days early. It said Demo clubs, but these look brand new. I'm very happy with these clubs and I strongly recommend them.
